My First Road Accident - 5 Jul

Was on my way to work, driving in the centre lane along Jalan Eunos, heading towards Eunos link, when suddenly i got hit from behind. Felt the car lurched forward and then due to the momentum, i swing backwards and then i heard the sound of glass shattering on the floor.

I got off the car and saw that a big sports bike had hit me from behind and my bumper is badly scratched and the right side rear lights broke.

Then as I was talking to him, my leg got scalded by his exhaust as i was standing close to the bike, all becos i wanted to avoid on-coming cars.

It was and still is a stressful and painful experience to get all the admin matters pertaining to the accident sorted. I first went to the doctor's first to check on my neck which got hurt due to the backlash as well as the scalded part on my legs. Thereafter, Thank God i could still drive the car to the workshop to get the car examined and the statement taken.

It was a mad rush that day (after the accident) as it was the day before my major event at work and i felt so stressed to have to take time off from work. Worst of all, i didn't get to rest despite being on MC. As all the admin matters of the accident had to be done within 24 hours, i had to settle all that and then worked from home for the urgent event matters. I then went to my vendor's place to work on video production to get the video edited real time. Can't believe I was there from 5-9pm watching the same video over and over again. And then by the time i got home, was still busy working on the last bits of the event till midnite!

Thank God the event went smoothly on Friday.

I pray hard that the accident settlement can be a fast and swift one and that justice can be done: I was really just driving straight and got hit from behind for no rhyme or reason.....pray that the other person's insurance will pay for everything! Pray also that my injuries can be completely healed soon!
Amen!

Durian Trip @ JB - 30 June

I joined the Durian Day Trip that NTU Alumni organised since i was in for a Durian fiesta. Since they allowed us to sign up for 3 others and at an exclusive rate, i brought along Shian and my parents. There were altogether 7 coaches buses with approximately 44 in each coach going together, thus the group was quite big.

Look at how excited and ever-participative my parents are, standing at first row behind the banner :)

The entry to the customs at SG was quite a pain. Though we were extrememly early, it was so crowded. Upon entry into Johor, we were brought to Taman Sentosa for local breakfast and then aslo to a famous pastry shop to buy some local pastries like tau sah piah and lao po bing.

We were then brought to a Batik Factory where we saw how locals do the batik, the different handcrafts and the different use of batik fabric. It was the usual boring stuff. But, guess what? Of all people, the guides there pin-pointed at me to be the "model" so they can showcase the different ways of wearing the scarf! Felt so weird standing there, letting the lady wear the scarf for me in different ways when i normally don't wear scarfs!
At this venue, we were also entertained by locals who performed using traditional rural instruments such as Ang Kluang and the other instruments made of wood. Pretty entertaining.

My parents looking touristy with the rural instruments at the background:

Next we were brought to a Durian plantation where we had free flow of quality durians. We pracitcally could reject whichever we find too dry, too moist etc and they throw the entire Durian away. We also had other tropical fruits such as rambutans, pineapples and not forgetting mangosteens.....I didn't know all these can make me feel so full and bloated!

We then went to Jusco shopping centre. First time for my parents.....glad i could bring them there. They even went for massage :)

Finally, the tour guide brought us to Senibong Village to have seafood. It was by the sea and faces Singapore, the Senoko Power stations etc. Pretty good view.

Till the next trip!

Transformers - 29 June

Work has been really busy for me. At the same time, there are many good shows that I wanted to watch. Shian wanted to watch Transformers very much, so i felt that for once i need to make some sacrifices, to watch the show he wants with him, even if it means trying to rush off from work on time.

Luckily we got our tickets early, great seats and also it was wonderful to catch the movie at The Grand Cathay, our first time there actually. Very big cinema and seats are comfortable.

The movie turned out pretty good actually. It was all worth it.

Daddy's Birthday - 28 June

Mum discovered the Stewards Riverboat restaurant (a 3-decked, non-motorized replica of the Mississippi Steamboats of the 1800's.) It is docked at the Marina South Pier . We decided to check it out on Dad's birthday. For those of you who know, it used to be located at Sentosa but has since moved.

They serve western food and have pretty good service. Incidentally, they are Christian-owned and have the tagline "Let the River Flow". They believe that every staff is a steward and the Jacuzzi at the Wheelhouse Deck has been used a number of times for water baptism!

Very nice scenary there, it is breezy and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. What a relaxing night we had there with great food, wonderful weather and cosy family time :)
