Durian Trip @ JB - 30 June

I joined the Durian Day Trip that NTU Alumni organised since i was in for a Durian fiesta. Since they allowed us to sign up for 3 others and at an exclusive rate, i brought along Shian and my parents. There were altogether 7 coaches buses with approximately 44 in each coach going together, thus the group was quite big.

Look at how excited and ever-participative my parents are, standing at first row behind the banner :)

The entry to the customs at SG was quite a pain. Though we were extrememly early, it was so crowded. Upon entry into Johor, we were brought to Taman Sentosa for local breakfast and then aslo to a famous pastry shop to buy some local pastries like tau sah piah and lao po bing.

We were then brought to a Batik Factory where we saw how locals do the batik, the different handcrafts and the different use of batik fabric. It was the usual boring stuff. But, guess what? Of all people, the guides there pin-pointed at me to be the "model" so they can showcase the different ways of wearing the scarf! Felt so weird standing there, letting the lady wear the scarf for me in different ways when i normally don't wear scarfs!
At this venue, we were also entertained by locals who performed using traditional rural instruments such as Ang Kluang and the other instruments made of wood. Pretty entertaining.

My parents looking touristy with the rural instruments at the background:

Next we were brought to a Durian plantation where we had free flow of quality durians. We pracitcally could reject whichever we find too dry, too moist etc and they throw the entire Durian away. We also had other tropical fruits such as rambutans, pineapples and not forgetting mangosteens.....I didn't know all these can make me feel so full and bloated!

We then went to Jusco shopping centre. First time for my parents.....glad i could bring them there. They even went for massage :)

Finally, the tour guide brought us to Senibong Village to have seafood. It was by the sea and faces Singapore, the Senoko Power stations etc. Pretty good view.

Till the next trip!
