Today is a sad day for me ...

Some of you might noticed that i seem to blog a lot more these days. Yes, i am slightly more free but also becos i really think that blogging helps me to feel better emotionally and mentally where i can share my happiness, sorrows and complaints.

Just as the title of my entry. Today is a sad day for me. I actually cried at work, quietly on my own. No one really noticed. I'm so upset becos the world seems so unfair.

Bottomline? I got trampled by a bitchy, scheming person today. I am upset. Terribly upset.

I am reminded of ...

Psalm 71
God the Rock of Salvation

1 In You, O LORD, I put my trust;
Let me never be put to shame.

2 Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape;
Incline Your ear to me, and save me.

3 Be my strong refuge,
To which I may resort continually;
You have given the commandment to save me,
For You are my rock and my fortress.

4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked,
Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

5 For You are my hope, O Lord GOD;
You are my trust from my youth.

6 By You I have been upheld from birth;
You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb.
My praise shall be continually of You.

7 I have become as a wonder to many,
But You are my strong refuge.

8 Let my mouth be filled with Your praise
And with Your glory all the day.

9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age;
Do not forsake me when my strength fails.

10 For my enemies speak against me;
And those who lie in wait for my life take counsel together,

11 Saying, “God has forsaken him;
Pursue and take him, for there is none to deliver him.”

12 O God, do not be far from me;
O my God, make haste to help me!

13 Let them be confounded and consumed
Who are adversaries of my life;
Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor
Who seek my hurt.

14 But I will hope continually,
And will praise You yet more and more.

15 My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness
And Your salvation all the day,
For I do not know their limits.

16 I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD;
I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.

17 O God, You have taught me from my youth;
And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.

18 Now also when I am old and grayheaded,
O God, do not forsake me,
Until I declare Your strength to this generation,
Your power to everyone who is to come.

19 Also Your righteousness,
O God, is very high,
You who have done great things;
O God, who is like You?

20 You, who have shown me great and severe troubles,
Shall revive me again,
And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

21 You shall increase my greatness,
And comfort me on every side.

22 Also with the lute I will praise You—
And Your faithfulness, O my God!
To You I will sing with the harp,
O Holy One of Israel.

23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You,
And my soul, which You have redeemed.

24 My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long;
For they are confounded,
For they are brought to shame
Who seek my hurt.

Experience at Orchard Road today

Had to go Orchard after church to trim my hair today. Few bad experiences to follow.

1. Bad traffic, took 1 hr from Expo to get to Orchard.
2. Carpark full, finally found a lot and some idiotic, ungentlemanly man grabbed my lot (head in) while i was about to reverse in (with signals on!) - Okay, i get it, my parking sucks big time!
3. Was starving and wanted a quick bite at Mac, since its 3pm and i haven't had lunch. Guess what? Macdonalds actually ran out of fries! Got to wait 30mins for them to bring over from Lucky Plaza to Ngee Ann City!
4. Spent $7.35 for carpark fee at Expo followed by $14.60 at Ngee Ann City! Gosh - now i know Ngee Ann City doesn't have per entry parking even on Sundays! *Heartache*

Well well, i went shopping after the hair-cut. Its GSS afterall. Bought a dress at Forever 21. Not too bad :)

Was walking around on my own. Saw that the adidas watch i've been eyeing for sometime is on sale! I like the red one best, although the white one is not too bad also.

Been eyeing on coach wallets and wristlets for some time. The desires of my heart at the moment:

Okay, need to save up for bigger things - save save save!

Park-Tor with Dear

Went to watch this movie with Dear yesterday. Its been a while since we went out purposely to catch a movie. Though we booked the tickets early, but the best seats we could get was 4th row corner block in a big theatre. Tried checking out other cinemas, later showtimes and its no difference. Well, there isn't much to do in Singapore afterall right?

The show was so-so only. Very lengthy and mostly with scenes that are very dark. Not quite my type of show. I actually dozed off at a couple of scenes. Waste of money!

Dinner was a late one at the newly opened Food Republic at Suntec. The decor is again of Asian theme but this time with wall murals of book shelves.....hmm....actually what is the relation with hawker food?

Off we went to Esplanade for a night stroll thereafter. We used to go there for strolls quite a bit last time. Its been a while since we last went there. And guess what? There were hoardings that were put up saying "We've outgrown the place, making way to expand"....something like that. Amazing.

Had a close up view of the temporary stage and seatings on platform to be used for NDP this year as well as the Singapore Ferries Wheel. There was an open-air rock band concert, we sat there for a while, enjoying the night breeze and the music as well as the singapore night scene.

And I love this view. With my dream work venue and dream hotel in the background of esplanade :)

I love hanging out with Dear, doing nothing, thinking of nothing in particular, just relaxing.....and it helped that it was a breezy night - can't stand the heat these days, really!

Deardear's birthday

Dear's birthday was on Thursday. It was a working day so we just had a simple dinner at Raffles City. Dear love Chinese food, so we went to The Asian Kitchen. The Roast Duck there is famous. Well, the food was good, but the restaurant was so cramped, felt so squashed up there.

Dear didn't want me to just spend and buy a cake. Some time back he already requested that i try and bake a cake for him. Especially after recently tasting one of the Tiramisu cake his cousin did, and the fact that i told him it was a non-bake cake, he requested for it (easy to make lah!). Well, since i promised, i obliged. Searched the internet for recipes and asked around from friends. We went to Market Place Supermarket after dinner to buy the ingredients - that's my favourite supermarket. It sells a lot of things that other supermarkets don't :)

We both took leave on Friday. Finally went to "The Prata Shop" at Upper Thomson for Prata together. I've been telling him about the wonderful Prata there for the longest time and finally we had the time to go there together. What's best? The fact that the whole world was working and we can go have a late breakfast there together, slow and easy :)

Well well, not forgetting my Tiramisu Cake....haha, with the help of the birthday boy, here it is, the final product of our hard work:

Also, the suave-looking and contented birthday boy - with this home-made Tiramisu:

Deardear, the cake may not be perfect in looks and in taste, but am sure we had fun making it together and also, its the effort and the thought that counts right? Haha! Happy Birthday to you! May ALL your dreams come true! :)

Jason Ong & Angeline's Wedding - 19 May

Sorry, no pictures.

Used to be in the same cg as Jason Ong. First time i met Angeline in fact. Went to the wedding just on time. Didn't really see many familiar faces. Was afraid it will be quite awkward for me since i wasn't really attending with a click of friends. Nonetheless, was very glad i bumped into Corn, Geryl, Edmund Ong and Ng and the rest. Had a great time chatting. Its been a while since we were all close buddies in the pioneer N201 batch. Missed the good old times....those were the days back in 2003. How time flies, so many are married and starting their families and so many more...

Was very touched at the church wedding, teared and 3 points at the event.

1. When the groom opened the event with a solo guitar and song item - despite having only 15mins of sleep the night before, despite forgetting the lyrics, despite not being able to reach some notes.....still it was a touching scene with his bravery, for carrying out the item, dedicated to his beloved......

2. When they made their wedding vows to each other. Holy Matrimony always touches my heart. Walking down the aisle of a church is what almost every girl's dream is I hear - whether or not they are a Christian. To me, the Christian wedding vows are so much more emcompassing and meaningful. I also especially think it is more sincere for the couple to make an effort to memorise and recite the vows, saying it as they look into the eyes of the other. More often than not, the bride always remembers and recites better than the groom. But, its still the fact that the groom who makes the effort to memorise and recite (despite the fact that i noticed, men tends to be a bit weaker in memorising) that deserves to be applauded.

3. When the bride gave thanks to her parents. Especially the part where she said "Dad, mum, I have never given you a hug in my life, so here it is" and she went down the stage, to hug her parents. That is just so sweet and I admire her for her courage. Its just so true that we Asians just find it so hard to openly and initiatively hug our parents as an action of our Love for them!

All the best to your marriage, Jason and Angeline!
May the Lord bless you always! :)

Spiderman 3 - 18 May

Well well, i got several coporate invitations for this show but i held on till this date. Shian's company had a movie night where they booked a cinema at Vivocity and had a private function there with celebration for May birthday babies (dear inclusive!) and lucky draws etc. Dear actually won a Spiderman 3 collector's watch!
I must say the much awaited movie was so so only. Rather draggy and the effects were kinda no big deal. Still, it was a nice time catching up with my ex-colleagues and friends as well as great time spent with Dear!
Oh! and not forgetting i took 2.5 hrs to drive from my office to Vivocity cos of the horrid jam that night! ARGHHH!!! Who says having a car can save travelling time!

Downtown East Chalet 13-15 May

Originally i balloted for my company chalet at Downtown east for my birthday, but i couldn't get it, so i took up this date since it was available. It was a good 3 days where i just got away from the usual routine and away from facing work and calls. Went swimming, went Wild Wild Wet to have fun, get coffee with cheesecake at tea-time, watched DVDs in the room (oh! 200 Pounds Beauty was funny and touching at the same time!) and basically laze my time away. And what a waste, we didn't take many pics .....
Then it was back to work, back to reality. Great moments just don't last very long....

Early Mother's Day

Last sat, we 3 sisters treated our parents and grandparents to dinner at a traditional Hokkien Restaurant, Beng Hiang at Amoy Street. It was mainly to celebrate Mother's Day but also a belated birthday meal for mummy.

I could tell how happy my grandparents were to see my nephews and niece, their great grandchildren. Such a sweet sight to see Ah Ma carrying baby Claire and playing with her :)

All the attention was on Baby Claire but as i didn't want the flash from the camera to irritate her, I turned off the flash and unfortunately, the pictures turned out pretty dark.

Food was pretty ok. Most importantly, it was great family time that all of us got together :)

Not forgetting the 2 mischevious boys who just won't show their faces when taking pictures....anyhow, it was still such a joy to see them! :)

Golf Inspiration

I just organised a Golf Day event on May 3. I'm proud to say it went pretty well, everyone was very happy and full of praise for the event. What was interesting this year was that we added a Charity element to the event, thus making it more meaningful. I shall not bore all of you on the details, but i'm very glad to be part of brainstorming for the various new activities this year which turn out to be quite well-received.

I was tasked to organise this event about 1 mth before and in the midst of it, had my peak period due to another major campaign. I know next to nothing about Golf but i'm glad i had a very good event company who had very experienced and patient personnel who was there to support me all the way.

I must say I learnt a lot from them! I learnt to appreciate the game. The event was held at Laguna Golf and Country Club and it was so nice to see all the passionate golfers come and participate despite the rain. For the first time, i drove a buggy at a golf club, haha, it was quite fun indeed. I feel so at peace with the lush greenery and i thought it was so cool for ladies to swing the clubs away when i wittnessed them at tee-off.

Haha, when i am financially more stable, I will want to take up golf. Anyone interested to join me?

For now, i just got to be contented and to make full use of my gym membership at Planet Fitness instead of slacking away....hehe :p

Day Trip to JB - 1 May 2007

As I have been saying the past few entries, i had been terribly stressed with work......last
Tuesday was labour day, i was so glad that i get the chance to take a break due to the Public Holiday. Decided not to switch on my comp that day, totally switched off from work. Went to JB with Shian, Sheena and James.

Everyone was trying to catch Spiderman 3 there, long queues to buy the tickets. Haha, but Shian and me went to watch Wild Hogs instead as we have a movie invitation for Spiderman later this month. Well, the show wasn't our choice at all but since we needed to kill time and since movie tickets there were like half the price than in Singapore, we watched it anyway. It was actually quite funny and well, no regrets catching that show.

We went separate ways from Sheena and James so we could still get some time to ourselves. Afterall, we haven't really had much quality time together due to our busy schedules.

Shian and I had lunch at this Pasta place at Jusco, quite a cosy place with the Jazz music and all. The food was pretty exquisite as well.

A place worth considering to return to!

We did quite a bit of shopping, bought some clothes etc. I also got to eat my favourite Dunkin Donuts which is defunct in Singapore. Later in the evening, we met up with Sheena and James again to have seafood dinner together. It was a hawker place we heard from others' before and only knew the name of the place in mandarin. We basically guessed our way there and learnt that the place was called 'Taman Sentosa' i think. The seafood was fantastic! And it was like less than half the price from Singapore! We got to eat to our hearts' content!

It's great to take a break from work and really switch off once in a while. I felt really rejuvenated after that.
