Taipei-Taichung 11-15 May

Finally! I went on my well-deserved break!

Chose Taiwan out of pure convenience. To me, it is not a place with speciality or uniqueness, no fantastic scenary nor cheap shopping. However, i had a really good experience due to the totally free & easy tour...

Arriving in taiwan

Night-shopping and munching of streetsnacks at XiMenDing

Took public bus, mrt and walked throughout. What was special, was seeing this cute Hello Kitty Bus! Both the inside and outside was decorated with the pink kitty!

Went to have a dip at the hot springs for the first time of my life :). Nice experience.

Went YangMing Shan, walked a 500m upslope nature trail....tiring and eerie with lots of insects, but got to know a kind father and son who are locals. They brought us around and bought us flowers that was grown there

Shopping at Shiling night market till we had to go for foot soak and foot massage....shiok!

Taiwan seems very influenced by Japanese culture, a lot of cute cute stuff along the way. We went to a cafe called 小熊的木屋。 The things there were all decorated with bears. The seats are swings with tabletops for our meals and even the rice was cupped into the shape of a bear's face. Also saw a Meow shop where they sell all the cute cat cartoon kind of stuff and there was this speaker outside hung beside the signboard that had a cat meowing a tune. Haha, so funny!

We also went to the National Mueseum, Sun Yat Sun Memorial Hall and of course Taipei 101 - The world's tallest building with the world's fastest elevator. The view was good except when the clouds float by to block our view. haha.

Taking rail to Taichung by express rail (2hours) - rare opportunity for us! really an experience to have to drag our luggage and walk to the railway station about 20 mins away from our hotel.

We took public bus about 3 hours away to Puli Wine Brewery....realised that chinese wine and liquor can be used to make many things, from ice cream to jelly to cakes and even chicken feet, duck intestines!

Another 1/2 hour away of bus journey brings us to the world-renowned Sun Moon Lake where we took a boat ride...

Throughout the trip, ate a lot of nice and interesting snacks. There is fried chicken peppered pieces, fruits in syrup with prune powder:

ice shaved in snowflakes with varied flavours:

and also rice wrapped in omelette. Lots and lots of nice food...

Feeling like i put on weight again, time to go on a diet!
